This is a wonderful Woven Pectoral Men's Ornament from the Savi People of the Kaminabit Village, Papua New Guinea. This pectoral ornament is constructed from bush materials and worn as an adornment, traded or used as a brides price, status or a wealth object. The pectoral just slips over the neck. Cowrie shells and small round shells sides and forming a face, as well as feathers at the bottom. This type of pectoral ornament would be worn by a senior society member. These ornaments are all individually made by and for the specific men and worn and traded with pride. Today they are still very valuable and priced ornaments by the tribal men. This would be a wonderful addition to your collection.
