This is a Vintage Woven Fiber Talipun Mask from the Boiken People from the Yangoru Village of the Prince Alexander Mountains in Papua New Guinea. This mask represents spirits. Talipun in pidgin means bride-price. The Talipun Mask is a highly valued and used in ceremonial exchange as a Bride Price or as compensation for inter-clan or tribal warfare. This traditional mask is one of the most important forms of currency. This Talipun woven mask and would be a wonderful addition to your home and collection.
