Sorry, this item has sold.

This an old great Carved Wood Spirit Man and Bird Figure Etched Flute with Stopper from the Middle Sepik River Village of the Kamanabit in Papua New Guinea. Flutes are generally used in pairs on ceremonial and ritual occasions and initiations. The sound they make is considered to be the voice of clan spirits and they can only be played by initiated men. Women, children, and uninitiated men are not allowed to see the flutes being played. The carved figure are ancestor figures and clan totems. This is a wonderful decorative Flute with a Stopper and would be a wonderful addition to your home or collection.
