This is a wonderful Hand carved Wood Dogon Granary Door from Mali. These doors protect the window-like opening into each family's grain storage building, and used a simple sliding door lock. Primordial beings, ancestors, Kanaga masks, sun lizards and scenes of life symbolically served to protect the entrance by making it sacrosanct. The low reliefs are carved on several panels, held together by iron staples. A wonderful addition to ones collection or a unique gift.

Another great purchase! I ordered a different door that had already been sold and they forgot to remove the post. I was contacted right away with an apology and offered a discount on another selection. All the Dogon doors are beautiful so I'm happy with the substitute. This is one of my favorite shops, hands down! I purchased this along with another Dogon door and received them both in just a few days! Again, just recommend eco friendly packing peanuts vs. Styrofoam.
