This is a wonderful example of a Papua New Guinea Trobriand Massim Canoe Wave Splitter. With traditional carvings, this well used Tabuya from the prow of a an old Trobriand Island Canoe. The canoes were uniquely decorated, and colorfully painted, and were used for inter island trading, in the Kula trade areas of Papua New Guinea.
